With just a couple of weeks left before I go back to the hellhole called school (just kidding), I've been taking full advantage of my free evenings by watching movies, going out and taking pictures of the early signs of spring and everything that falls under the category of being called "laid-back". Oh yeah baby. It's been a good life.
So movies. I've been watching movies too. Not a lot though, for obvious couch potato reasons. I watched a movie by Satyajit Ray named Pather Panchali and I swear to God, it was good but it left me feeling rather terrible. Then the next day I decided to watch Little Miss Sunshine. It is now officially, in my BEST movies list. You have to watch it! (Unless you're the movie buff who's laughing their ass off on what I loser I am to watch it after the OScars and all the hoo-ha) But only after watching Pather Panchali. Both touch something deep within your soul and I'm surprised to have watched such similar movies (similar emotional intent) one after the other.

LMS is a beautiful movie. The color blind scene, grandad being smuggled out of the hospital, and the final dance...priceless!! And the kid had to be the most adorable one.
And lets not forget the entire ordeal of pushing the van :)
Thanks for stoppin' by Kanishka!
I haven't seen LMS myself so no am not gonna laugh at u for watching it after Oscars.....I intend to soon, though! But I saw Pather Panchali a coupla yrs ago without subtitles and when I knew very li'l of Bengali......It touched me like no movie has for several reasons..the background score in the movie by Ravi Shankar is peerless...and those li'lest of the sensitive details that have gone in the making of a movie that was made on such a low budget as it was.....touch a chord ......It's one of the greatet movies I have seen by an Indian film-maker and do watch Apu's Sansar too from the triology..its a tad depressing too but Satyajit Ray's sensitivity shines thro'......:)
Coming here after a long time, was busy moving into the new apt and doing up our new place.......hope to be more regular in near future!! :)
I agree Swati :) Through and through. Ray's movies are classics. Thanks for taking the time to stop by!
